Yahu (Rock) Blackwell Next In Line For The IBU USA Championship
From birth everyone knew there was something special about Yahu. His mother, Sandra Blackwell Lynch said she knew when Yahu was still in diapers that he would grow and a true leader.
That kid who carries the creators name, grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up, the Blackwell family didn't have much money or resources but was very rich in cultural values.
Yahu Blackwell began boxing at 7 years of age, compiling an impressive amateur record of 156-28 before turning professional in 2009.
Blackwell’s pro career began on a rocky note, when he debuted in 2009. Blackwell not only broke his right thumb in his fight but had to battle dangerous levels of dehydration after his management had him drop down to 154 pounds. While you can imagine this would stop the career of most boxers, you better believe it only pushed Blackwell harder to succeed.
Now under new management; Blackwell traveled over seas and competed in the International Boxing League. Blackwell was able to compile an impressive 15-0 record. The IBL took Yahu's talents around the world, competing in Scotland, Great Britain, and Spain.
Now Standing At 5’10”, 200 pounds solid, Blackwell is considered by many to be the next big thing in U.S. men's cruiser weight boxing. He will be returning to the ABC soon, making his Comcast CSN debut and fighting for the IBU title's within the 2017 calendar.
